ABOUT DOUG MILNE
Douglas D. Milne, III is one of the most respected names in Darien real estate—and rightfully so. Doug is a man of tremendous integrity, dedicated to making a positive contribution to all those around him, with 30 years in the industry of “successfully creating the best possible outcome for his clients.” Doug founded and was a President of Kelly Associates, the leading real estate firm in Darien, New Canaan, and Rowayton, Connecticut— which has now joined Houlihan Lawrence. He had consistently been a leading producer there, specializing in the high end of the single family market. In the past few years alone, Doug has easily facilitated in excess of $140,000,000 in real estate sales; including three of Darien’s highest priced waterfront properties
Even so, Doug is far from your typical real estate agent. He commands an unparalleled array of skills gained from both career and personal experience. He is a consummate consensus builder with an extensive knowledge of financing, property marketing, new construction development and land planning, property optimization, price capitulation and distress transactions. Additionally, Doug is more than able to advise on commercial real estate investments—as he has been successfully invested in Darien, New Canaan and Colorado since 1981.
Over the last three decades, Doug’s level of professionalism has been a major component in the shaping of the local real estate industry. He has instructed hundreds of area realtors in real estate finance, transforming them from “acting” mortgage brokers into knowledgeable, financially-savvy agents. Furthermore, he developed and implemented the first computerized financing and qualification system in the industry, which streamlined the approval process. Against industry resistance, he initiated new standard operating procedures such as yard signs, open houses and creative marketing programs for each property. To this day, Doug still crafts a custom marketing plan for each property he represents.
Doug graduated from Connecticut College with a B.A. in Economics, which lead him to computer sales and sales management at IBM. As an answer to the banking crisis in 1992, he formed REO Solutions, an entity to broker bank owned property. Additionally, Doug was a Founder and Chairman of The Board of the Bank of Darien, which added further to his extensive finance experience.
As a near-lifelong resident of Darien, Doug is well grounded in the community. He has many established area contacts and has access to countless networks critical to the success of timely, challenging transactions.
Doug is at the pinnacle of personalized service. He is more than happy to arrange for a boat in order to explore and analyze the potential of a waterfront property by land and by sea. Doug is the quintessential client's “dream realtor”—an innovator in financing techniques who thrives on orchestrating the most complex property transactions to maximize the value for each client. He has helped countless clients attain the property they never thought they could have.
After three decades, Doug has become a figurehead in the Darien real estate community based on his good-natured rapport with clients and fellow brokers. Doug Milne does not strive for traditional realtor awards; he measures his success by the satisfaction of his clients, his 80% referral business, those who seek his counsel to maximize their buying power, and the multi-generational repeat clients that insist Doug is “the only guy to talk to.”
Doug would love for you to become part of his clientele who have achieved happiness and success with his services. He'll welcome your call 203-667-0344 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
