For over 40 years Doug has, and will continue to, serve in various capacities in both industry related and volunteer community service in the Darien area.
The Bank of Darien and HomeTown BanCorporation
- Chairman of the Board
Doug was one of five founders of this community bank in 1985. During its 11 year history it grew to two locations in Darien and Westport serving the lower Fairfield County market. During Doug's term as Chairman the stock gained over 600%.
Darien Board of Realtors
- 2 terms as a Director starting in 1985
- Vice President 2006 - 2008
Governance body of all Darien Realtors and Multiple Listing Service participants.We enforce the Realtors Code of Ethics. Set admissions standards and conduct educational services for members.
The Stamford Hospital
- Vice Chairman of the Board, member Board of Directors
The Board oversees all aspects of a 300-bed hospitals operations as well as those of its affiliates. Doug is Chair of the Audit Committee and serves on the Finance and Governance Committees.
The Stamford Hospital Foundation
- Vice Chairman, member Board of Directors
The foundation is the sole fundraising arm for Stamford Hospital and its affiliates. The Foundation Board oversees a staff of seven professionals that coordinate all events and fundraising activities.
Easter Seals Rehab Center
- Chair of the Board, served as a Director for 10 years
The Rehab Center provided services to the disabled community in greater Stamford from birth to elder day care. The Board oversaw all activities, programs, clinics and fundraising to support over 300 daily clients.
Darien United Way
- Director, 3 years; Chair of Leadership Gifts
Chaired the Annual Leadership gift drive (gifts over $1,000) from individuals. Doug served on the Board for three years.
Darien YMCA
- Board of Directors, 6 years; President, 2 years
Served as a Director for six years and President for two years.The Darien Y is a very active community resource with over 9,000 members.It provides programming in all types of sports, day care,and coordinates the youth soccer, gymnastics and basketball programs in town through 8th grade.
Wee Burn Country Club

Two terms as a Director and Executive Committee Member. Chaired the Building Committee and participated in the renovation of the golf course and two club house facilities totaling more than $19,000,000 in capital projects.
Darien Little League Baseball and Softball

Coached Darien Little League Majors boys 10 to 12 years of age; Darien Girls Softball ages 10 to 12.
Darien Jr. Football League

Coached Darien Junior Football league Coach 6 thru 8th grade.
YMCA Travel Basketball League

Coached 7th and 8th grade Boys Basketball Travel program.
Talmadge Hill Church
- Co-Chair Americares project, 3 years
Co-Chaired the renovation and improvements of homes in Bridgeport coordinating materials, craftsman and volunteers for each project.

Facilitated monthly breakfast meetings for 700 members from three states. We shared marketing strategies, resources and promoted co-broke opportunities. It allowed independent firms to compete extremely favorably with national chains.We also provided one of the top new agent training programs in the country.
Doug designed and taught an intensive one-day seminar in all aspects of real estate finance for Realtors. Students learned to qualify prospects for mortgages. Identify specific products to meet the needs of each client. His most popular class was in creative financing, finding alternatives to conventional bank lending.
The network was comprised of 55 independent offices in three states with over 700 members.
